Vertical sundial on the south facade of the church.
Construction of the Church of St. Vitus began in 1820 by order of the parish priest Petar Laurenčić in order to replace the old Vidovec church. The church was completed in 1829 and the same year was carved above the entrance to the church. The construction of the church was financially supported by Countess Eleonora Patačić, Podban and Grand Prefect of Zagreb Donat Lukavszky and Stjepan and Federiko Patačić. In 1906, the church was painted by the excellent Italian painter Osvaldo Bierti with his assistants Ilija and Franjo Elie and Franjo Gurissatti.
A major renovation of the church began in the year 1990, during which the bell tower was completely renovated and the foundations of the church were waterproofed. However, due to the Homeland War, the renovation was interrupted. On the night of March 20, 1993, a fire broke out on the organ that engulfed the interior of the church and part of the roof. After the fire, reconstruction began very quickly; a new bell tower was built with four electrified bells, the exterior and interior facades were renewed, central heating was introduced, new lighting and benches, stained glass windows were installed, and all the statues and all three altars were restored.References:
